Kat n Keys Trio: The Story

The Kat n Keys Trio was originally born out of two individuals who were good friends that also shared an ambition and a similar philosophy to forming a top notch cover band.  Having played together in much larger bands that limited where they can perform, Kat and Dave wanted to do something unique by forming a duo that offers a small footprint and affordable price point but that can produce a much larger sound equivalent to a 6 piece band. Their uncompromising goals were also to produce an extremely high quality sound while delivering a very entertaining and lively show with professional-grade vocals, strong musicanship and an ability to perform at virtually any venue or event regardless of what style of music may be required.

 

Ever since they came together in 2002, they’ve found great joy and satisfaction in making music togther and sharing it with fans and people all over the Metro D.C. area. Finding success in the music industry is anything but easy, but they’ve managed to stay strong while overcoming challenges along the way. Being through so much together as musicians has only brought them closer, and their hope is to stay true to their main objective which is to make music that people love and that they can be proud of.

The first incarnation of Kat n Keys was as a Duo. Founded by Dave Gaetani (keyboards) and Karen "Kat" Klegin (vocals), the team first embarked on their musical voyage of discovery together as a cohesive Rock Duo in 2012. But their origin goes back earlier to when Dave and Kat were members of the Classic Rock band "Swiftkick". They both shared very similar interest in music and grew up listening to a variety of music genres that played an influential role in shaping their paths as musicians and ultimately led them together.

In 2020, the duo decided to expand and discovered an amazing young vocalist - Traval Mensah.  Like Kat and Dave, Traval also shared similar interest in music. The talent and chemistry was there from the first audition and The Kat n Keys Trio was born.

The Kat n Keys Trio have collectively found their signature sound and offer something different and unique to their fans by covering popular artists as authentically as possible or putting their own spin on things that they are proud to call their own. For more information please get in touch.
