Kat n Keys Trio

Dave has been playing professionally on and off since the age of 16. Originally from Philadelphia and the South Jersey areas, Dave started playing accordian at age 5. By age 13, Dave had taught himself how to play the drums and started his first rock band as a drummer. Dave first began gigging as a keyboardist throughout the tri-state area during his teenage years playing organ, piano, and synths.

 

Over the years, Dave has played with many local cover and original bands within the Philadelphia and D.C. including The RIchard Ivory Band, SwiftKick, Chocolate Factory, and Earls of Kent. Along the way, learning many different musical styles from Jazz to Pop and just about everything in between as well as writing his own original instrumental musical scores for film and TV. Dave's keyboard influences are many and some of his favorites include Billy Joel, Steve Winwood, Greg Allman, Donald Fagen, and Bruce Hornsby.

Early on, Dave realized the enormous potential of midi and digital synthesizer technology and became adept at sequencer programming, sampling, and drum pattern recording and applies these techniques to The Kat n Keys Trio giving it a much larger sound than what a trio can typically produce. His technical skills coupled with his passion for emulating acoustic instruments such as guitar, bass, reeds, woodwinds, and strings as authentically as possible on keyboards is what gives The Kat n Keys Trio such an incredibly big and dynamic full band sound of 5 to 9 players. Fondly known as the one man band, you would never know that the many instrument sounds heard during a live performance were actually being played on keyboards by a single musician.
